: The Bedroom in Arles (also known by its French name, La Chambre a Arles, and its Dutch original name, Slaapkamer te Arles) is a series of three similar paintings dated of 1889 by Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. There are three versions of this simple room where van Gogh stayed at 2, Place Lamartine in Arles, France. The house was also simply known as The Yellow House. We could get an inside of what the bedroom would look like just by reading the letters than van Gogh sent to his brother Theo describing it. The opening to the room is a door to the very right of the composition which leads to the staircase and to the guest room that he kept for Paul Gauguin. From his window, he could see La Place Lamartine and its beautiful gardens. The beauty of the bedroom itself is its shape, a trapezoid that has two difficult angles, which van Gogh simply ignored.
