ustav Klimt (1862-1918) is an Austrian painter best known for his explicit sexual murals and paintings. Born into poverty in Baumgarten as the second of seven children; he has shown his artistic talent early on. From all his works, the most common themes he used are the femme fatale. His work is also often distinguished by the spirals and swirls, colored decorations and phallic shapes used to conceal the erotic position of drawing. His art work has been influenced by a multitude of culture such as Minoan, Classical, Egyptian, Byzantine, and Greek. Not only that, Gustav Klimt was also inspired by Japanese Rimpa School and medieval European paintings. After his death in Vienna, his paintings continued to fetch high value. In 2006, Klimt's Adele Bloch-Bauer I was sold in New York by Ronald Launder at a record price of US $135 million.
